Impact Risk Monitoring on 14 April '20

2020 FA1 | JPL Sentry | 1640 | 2072-2119 | 14 | 3.7225711e-05 | -5.55 | -6.38 | 0 | JPL: Computed at 07:34 today Pacific time based on 54 observations spanning 27.824 days (2020-Mar-16.47938 to 2020-Apr-13.30315). Diameter approximately 0.019 km. from weighted mean H=26.28. |
NEODyS | 1640 | 2115-2116 | 3 | 2.58e-06 | -6.74 | -6.94 | 0 | NEODyS: "Based on 54 optical observations (of which 0 are rejected as outliers) from 2020-03-16.480 to 2020-04-13.304." |
Legend: VI# = VI count, Prob Cum = cumulative probability, PS Cum/Max = cumulative/maximum Palermo Scale, TS = Torino Scale (next 100 years)
An impact solution, also known as a "virtual impactor" (VI), is not a prediction but rather a possibility derived from a variant orbit calculation that cannot be eliminated yet based on the existing data. Elimination can come quickly with just a little further observation or may take weeks or months, sometimes years. Once superceded or eliminated, a former impact solution has zero relevance to an object's risk. See Jon Giorgini's "Understanding Risk Pages" to learn more.
