This report was generated at 2040 UTC with seven discoveries: approaching 2020 BN (MPEC), inbound objects 2020 BP (MPEC) and risk-listed 2020 BB (MPEC, DOU), passing 2020 BK (MPEC), outbound 2020 BL (MPEC) and 2020 BH (MPEC), and already departed 2020 BD (MPEC, DOU), which went by us at about 4.84 LD on January 14th. Today's DOU MPEC has the recovery of distant radar target 2018 BM5 and follow-up for approaching 2020 AK3 and departed objects 2019 YA4 and 2019 YP3, plus observation of 2019 SD from last October and astrometry from early this month for 2020 AG, and from October for 2019 UG11, 2019 UJ6, 2019 UL5, and 2019 UG3.
Notes: Ten times the distance to the Moon (ten LD) has no astronomical importance but is a useful boundary for reporting about transient natural objects that approach our planet's gravitational sphere of influence (SOI), which has a radius of about 2.41 LD from Earth's center. This puts a focus on some of the most important and very best NEO observation work, representative of the much larger NEO discovery and tracking effort. "Distant" is used here to describe an object under observation that has come within ten LD since A/CC began this traffic reporting (2007) but is not now so close. Object temporal distances are derived by A/CC from JPL Horizons data. See also current sky chart and object details (alt-details), ephemerides, and today's timeline.

An impact solution, also known as a "virtual impactor" (VI), is not a prediction but rather a possibility derived from a variant orbit calculation that cannot be eliminated yet based on the existing data. Elimination can come quickly with just a little further observation or may take weeks or months, sometimes years. Once superceded or eliminated, a former impact solution has zero relevance to an object's risk. See Jon Giorgini's "Understanding Risk Pages" to learn more.
