This report was generated at 2210 UTC with three discoveries announced late yesterday: approaching 2020 AD1 (MPEC, DOU), inbound 2020 AE1 (MPEC), and outbound risk-listed 2020 AC1 (MPEC), and with five discoveries today: approaching risk-listed 2020 AO1 (MPEC), inbound objects 2020 AT1 (MPEC) and risk-listed 2020 AR1 (MPEC), and outbound objects 2020 AN1 (MPEC) and intruder 2020 AP1 (MPEC), which went by us at 0.85 LD on January 2nd. Today's DOU MPEC has the recovery of distant 2009 DR3 and follow-up for approaching objects 2020 AO, 2019 YD3, 2019 WC5, inbound 2019 YF4, and six departed objects: 2019 YA4, 2019 YA1, 2019 XQ2, and including three risk-listed -- 2020 AP, 2019 YP3, and 2019 YW2.

Notes: Ten times the distance to the Moon (ten LD) has no astronomical importance but is a useful boundary for reporting about transient natural objects that approach our planet's gravitational sphere of influence (SOI), which has a radius of about 2.41 LD from Earth's center. This puts a focus on some of the most important and very best NEO observation work, representative of the much larger NEO discovery and tracking effort. "Distant" is used here to describe an object under observation that has come within ten LD since A/CC began this traffic reporting (2007) but is not now so close. When last checked at 2337 UTC today, the Minor Planet Center's Near Earth Object discovery Confirmation Page (NEOCP) had 49 objects listed. Of these, sixteen were "one nighters." The Tracking News counted a total of 68 listings on the NEOCP on this day.
