Seventeen objects reported inside ten LD

There are seventeen asteroids reported to be less than ten lunar distances (LD) from Earth on this day, which starts with two outbound intruders as being the nearest. 2019 VF5 leaves the Earth-Moon system, flying out from at 0.51 to 4.18 LD, as does risk-listed 2019 VB5 moving out from 0.53 to 1.73 LD.

This report was updated at 2152 UTC with the discovery of 2019 VJ5 (MPEC) which just left our ten-LD traffic reporting sphere yesterday after passing us at 4.13 LD on November 5th. Today's DOU MPEC has follow-up for approaching 2019 UH1, inbound 2019 VN, outbound intruder 2019 VF5, and seventeen departed objects: 2019 VD3, 2019 UO13, 2019 UR12, 2019 UP8 (first follow-up, 7.34 days added to 2.48-day observing arc), 2019 UY6, 2019 UG3, 2019 UU2, 2019 TT2, 2019 TW, 2019 SN7 (34.07 days added to 5.73), 2012 VB37, intruder 2019 UL3, and including five risk-listed -- 2019 VV, 2019 UK2, 2019 TB, and intruders 2019 UX12 and 2019 SP3.

Notes: Ten times the distance to the Moon (ten LD) has no astronomical importance but is a useful boundary for reporting about transient natural objects that approach our planet's gravitational sphere of influence (SOI), which has a radius of about 2.41 LD from Earth's center. This puts a focus on some of the most important and very best NEO observation work, representative of the much larger NEO discovery and tracking effort. NEOCP Activity  on 10 November '19

The MPC's NEO Confirmation Page has 48 listings

When last checked at 2358 UTC today, the Minor Planet Center's Near Earth Object discovery Confirmation Page (NEOCP) had 48 objects listed. Of these, 24 were "one nighters." So far The Tracking News has counted a total of 62 listings on the NEOCP today.

An impact solution, also known as a "virtual impactor" (VI), is not a prediction but rather a possibility derived from a variant orbit calculation that cannot be eliminated yet based on the existing data. Elimination can come quickly with just a little further observation or may take weeks or months, sometimes years.
