When last checked at 2359 UTC today, the Minor Planet Center's Near Earth Object discovery Confirmation Page (NEOCP) had one new and one updated listing. Both of these were "one nighters." So far The Tracking News has counted a total of six objects listed on the NEOCP at some point today.

- K09D12C 2009 DC12 (small asteroid, H=22.8 ~93m) was discovered at 0633 UT on 22 Feb. by MLS, which observed it at Feb. 22.27-32p7 at V=21.3-22.4. The discovery was confirmed by MRO (Feb. 22.38-40p3), Calar Alto Obs. (Feb. 23.19-21p3), and ARO (Feb. 23.20-22p3).
MPEC 2009-D54 - "13:18 UT" - 2009 DB12
- K09D12B 2009 DB12 (H=21.4 ~178m) was discovered at 0622 UT on 22 Feb. by LINEAR, which observed it at Feb. 22.27-31p4. The discovery was confirmed by ARO (Feb. 23.19-20p3) and Sandlot Obs. (Feb. 23.29-30p3).

An impact solution, also known as a "virtual impactor" (VI), is not a prediction but rather a possibility derived from a variant orbit calculation that cannot be eliminated yet based on the existing data. Elimination can come quickly with just a little further observation or may take weeks or months, sometimes years. Once superceded or eliminated, a former impact solution has zero relevance to an object's risk. See Jon Giorgini's "Understanding Risk Pages" to learn more.
