When last checked at 2358 UTC today, the Minor Planet Center's NEO discovery Confirmation Page (NEOCP) had one new and two updated listings. Of these, two were "one nighters." So far The Tracking News has counted a total of thirteen objects listed on the NEOCP at some point today.

MPEC 2008-S34 - "18:03 UT" - 2008 SU
- K08S00U 2008 SU (Q=4.683 AU, H=20.2 ~309m) was discovered at 0623 UT on 22 Sept. by the Spacewatch 1.8m telescope, which observed it at Sept. 20.35-36p3, 21.30-31p3, and 22.27p3. The discovery was confirmed by the Spacewatch 0.9m telescope (Sept. 20.25-29p3) and ARO (Sept. 22.31-33p3).
MPEC 2008-S33 - "17:59 UT" - 2008 ST
- K08S00T 2008 ST (risk-listed, Earth MOID=0.9 LD, H=27.1 ~13m) was discovered at 0352 UT on 22 Sept. by the Mt. Lemmon Survey (MLS), which observed it at Sept. 22.16-21p7, 22.29p4, and 22.38-39p4. The discovery was confirmed by Sabino Canyon Obs. (Sept. 22.22-23p3) and ARO (Sept. 22.22p3). This object is now within ten lunar distances (LD) of Earth, reaching 4.0 LD on 28 Sept.
MPEC 2008-S32 - "17:55 UT" - 2008 SS
- K08S00S 2008 SS (small asteroid, H=22.2 ~123m) was discovered at 1321 UT on 21 Sept. by the Siding Spring Survey (SSS), which observed it at Sept. 21.56-58p4, 21.64-65p2, and 21.74p1. The discovery was confirmed by Great Shefford Obs. (Sept. 21.93-94p2), Nazaret Obs. (Sept. 21.00-02p3), ARO (Sept. 22.19-20p4), Desert Moon Obs. (Sept. 22.22-25p5), and Sabino Canyon Obs. (Sept. 22.24-25p3).
MPEC 2008-S31 - "17:52 UT" - 2008 SR
- K08S00R 2008 SR (risk-listed, H=21.6 ~162m) was discovered at 1022 UT on 21 Sept. by MLS, which observed it at Sept. 21.43-51p8 and 22.30-33p4. The discovery was confirmed by ARO (Sept. 22.28-30p3) and Spacewatch 1.8m (Sept. 22.30p3).

- K08S00Q 2008 SQ (H=19.5 ~426m) was discovered at 0842 UT on 21 Sept. by MLS, which observed it at Sept. 21.36-45p8. The discovery was confirmed by Tiki Obs. (Sept. 21.57-59p2), Eschenberg Obs. An impact solution, also known as a "virtual impactor" (VI), is not a prediction but rather a possibility derived from a variant orbit calculation that cannot be eliminated yet based on the existing data. Elimination can come quickly with just a little further observation or may take weeks or months, sometimes years. Once superceded or eliminated, a former impact solution has zero relevance to an object's risk. See Jon Giorgini's "Understanding Risk Pages" to learn more.
