The NASA/JPL NEO Program Office reported yesterday that with further analysis, including new observation from Calar Alto Observatory (see yesterday's DOU MPEC), Mars impact probability has decreased to "1-in-40 odds" for 2007 WD5 three weeks from now. See the NEOPO's Asteroid 2007 WD5 page and A/CC has more news links here. Further observation has been reported today. The above NASA/JPL illustration of positional possibilities is from Dec. 21st.

When last checked at 2354 UTC today, the Minor Planet Center's NEO discovery Confirmation Page (NEOCP) had one new listing. So far The Tracking News has counted a total of two objects listed on the NEOCP at some point today.

• K08A01X   2008 AX1 (H=21.2 ~195m) was discovered at 1538 UT on 8 Jan. by the Siding Spring Survey (SSS), which observed it at Jan. 8.65-69p6, 8.75p1, and 9.44p1. The discovery was confirmed by Farra d'Isonzo Obs. (Jan. 8.82-83p3), CAST Obs. (Jan. 8.86-87p2), Gnosca Obs. (Jan. 8.87-88p2), Alter Satzberg Obs. (Jan. 8.91-94p3), and Farpoint Obs. (Jan. 9.25p4).
