Radar news: Today's Daily Orbit Update MPEC reports radar observation from Arecibo on 27 and 28 July of 54509 2000 PH5, an Earth co-orbital and the only numbered small asteroid (see news about this year's apparition). Last Sunday, JPL's Lance Benner told the Minor Planet Mailing list (MPML) that radar observations from Arecibo had been made that day of binary asteroids 1998 ST27 and 66063 1998 RO1. We have several more days on ST27 and two more days on RO1. Toutatis observations start on October 7. |

The Thursday Daily Orbit Update MPEC reports observations from last night of 2004 TN1 from Great Shefford Observatory in England and of 2004 TP1 from San Marcello Pistoiese Observatory in Italy. Today JPL removed its first preliminary impact solutions for 2004 TP1, NEODyS joined in posting 2004 TN1, and JPL raised its risk assessment for TN1 while cutting its solution count from 52 to 18. Both of these objects are on the order of 200 to 230 meters/yards wide by JPL's estimate. The Minor Planet Center Last Observation page is showing that 2004 RQ252 was picked up today by its discoverer, the Siding Spring Survey in Australia, and 2004 TN was reported from the Spacewatch 1.8m telescope in Arizona. |
